Arctic Research and Community Engagement Coordinator (supporting IASC, PSECCO and AFS)

The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for an Arctic Research and Community Engagement Coordinator. This full-time position is available for 1.5 years, with continuation contingent upon performance and the availability of funds. The position will be located in Boulder, Colorado.

The successful candidate will provide coordination for advancing international Arctic research engagement and promoting safe working environments in remote field sites for researchers.

The Arctic Research Engagement Coordinator will support various initiatives:

  • As the engagement coordinator for U.S. participation in the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC);
  • As an events and community-building coordinator for the Polar Science Early Career Community Office (PSECCO); and
  • As a training facilitator and liaison to the field research team for the ADVANCEing FieldSafety (AFS) program.

A Bachelor’s degree is required. Directly relevant experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree on a year-per-year basis. Additional requirements include prior knowledge of Arctic environments, communities, and cultures; excellent project management skills; excellent writing, editing, and communication skills; ability to work and contribute to a highly collaborative team environment; technical competence in working with email clients, cloud-based file sharing platforms, and other web-based collaboration tools; and a high level of attention to detail.
