New paper on frameworks for engagement

The ECO framework: advancing evidence-based science engagement within environmental research programs and organizations

Sharing a new paper out of the APEAL project (and its predecessors) on how to do engagement, especially in an organization. Authored by Sarah Garlick (Former Science Policy Director at Hubbard Brook LTER) and Kathy Fallon Lambert (Founder and former Executive Director of the Science Policy Exchange), the ECO framework presented in this BioScience paper promotes three distinct and interacting modes of science engagement practice:

  • formative engagement (listening and relationship building),
  • codesign and coproduction (action-oriented partnerships), and
  • broader outreach (expanding networks and dissemination)
