Following the Science Council discussion of the TIP directorate, TIP issued an open Request for Information regarding how they should “develop a roadmap to guide investment decisions in use-inspired and translational research over a 3-year time frame.”
Among ten technology focus areas, they call out on with obvious connection to our work:
(5) Natural and anthropogenic disaster prevention or mitigation.
Among five societal, national, and geostrategic challenges, they call out one that has obvious relevance:
(4) Climate change and environmental sustainability.
…and two more where we could potentially contribute:
(3) United States workforce development and skills gaps.
(5) Inequitable access to education, opportunity, or other services.
Given the July 27 deadline for input, the Executive Board has began to work on a draft document. Participation and input is welcome.
